Ischgl, situated in the heart of the Silvretta mountains, is on the border between Austria and Switzerland, and is renowned for its charm and fantastic skiing. This Tyrolean town dates from the 10th century and combines the luxury of a classic ski resort with an abundance of youthful energy. In Ischgl tradition mixes comfortably with action-packed nightlife and high-adrenaline sports. In the Ischgl-Samnaun ski area you'll find a huge range of slopes and off-piste, and have access to the Silvretta Arena ski area. Surrounded by peaks up to 3,000m these ski areas are vast and have an amazing mix of terrain: there are long slopes to gently cruise, quick steep blacks to test your skills and loads of freeriding terrain - which retains great snow conditions for much longer than other resorts. Ischgl also boasts the snowARTpark, one of the best terrain parks in Europe. After long days on the slopes surrounding Ischgl you'll be rewarded with a wealth of après ski options in this lively and compact village. There are plenty of lively bars to choose from as soon as the slopes close, dozens of restaurants to spend an enjoyable evening in and loads of other evening activities, like tobogganing, swimming, theatre shows or, if you prefer, you can even go bowling until 1 in the morning. If you want to be in the heart of the action and have easy access to the slopes then staying in one of the many of the traditional chalets close to the SilvreHabahn lift is your best option. The pedestrianised town centre is filled with great shops, bars and restaurants, and also has a moving walkway which takes you to the other two lifts - the Pardatschgratbahn and Fimbabahn. This combination of fantastic skiing, modern efficient lifts and superb après ski makes Ischgl one of the top resorts in Austria.
