In amongst the fir and spruce trees of the Tarentaise Valley you'll find the ski resort of Pralognan La Vanoise sitting in the spectacular Vanoise National Park. From this position at the foot of some of the highest glaciers in the Alps and surrounded by magnificently beautiful natural landscape Pralognan La Vanoise has access to some astounding snow sports terrain. With its ski area spanning from 1,400m up to 2,350m, and the off-piste terrain reaching even higher to the peak of the Grande-Casse at 3,855m, there are snow sports and activities for everyone in Pralognan La Vanoise. The ski area of the resort has downhill slopes for all ability levels with beginners areas, a range of intermediate and advanced level slopes including forest and mogulled runs, and plenty of powder to be found off-piste - the snow record, in general, around Pralognan La Vanoise whether on or off-piste is excellent thanks to the numerous glaciers which are close-by and the extensive artificial snow making system which covers most of the ski area. Great for family breaks and mixed ability groups there are loads of things to do in Pralognan La Vanoise besides Alpine skiing and snowboarding. It has the 4th largest Nordic ski area in Savoie with 26km of marked trails, and beside most of these you'll find great hiking and snowshoe routes. If you want to take some time out and just enjoy the views from the mountain restaurants that's not a problem as pedestrians can always access the chairlifts and cable car, and for things to do away from the mountainsides the town has excellent sports and leisure facilities in the Le Prélude Olympique - there you'll find an ice rink, spa centre, swimming pool, bowling alley, and games arcade. After all these activities you can spend relaxing evenings in the local restaurants sampling fantastic Savoyard specialities and if you want to enjoy some traditional après ski activities there are a number of pubs open until late.
