From the tranquil car-free village of Riederalp you can enjoy spectacular views over the super high peaks of the Valais Alps and experience the fantastic snow sports of the Aletsch ski area. The Aletsch glacier is the largest in the Alps, and the ski area which surrounds it has 104km of marked slopes, fantastic snow sports facilities, and is a great destination for all kinds of winter holidays, whether extreme sports adventures or fun family breaks. The presence of this 23km long glacier brings perfect weather and snow conditions to Riederalp and the other resorts in the Aletsch ski area, Bettmeralp and Fiesch-Eggishorn. And from Riederalp you can enjoy the snow and slopes of the area straight from your doorstep. Accessible for everyone, Riederalp and the Aletsch ski area have been awarded the Swiss Tourism Federation's "Families Welcome" quality certificate because there are a lot of facilities and sports in the area which are perfect for children, like the special child-friendly ski lifts, and as winter hiking is a popular family activity there are many pushchair accessible walking routes. In total across the area there are 72km of hiking trails, which along with the many cross-country ski trails give visitors access to the most spectacular views of the surrounding 4,000m high Valais Alps. And if you want to be more adventurous, the mountains around Riederalp have loads of off-piste terrain which you can explore to discover the lesser known panoramic viewpoints. Other activities accessible from Riederalp include ice skating on the natural rink, night skiing, horse-drawn sleigh rides, and of course tobogganing. And in town you can relax après ski in the swimming pool or spa centres, before enjoying the local fare in the restaurants. The nightlife in Riederalp isn't the liveliest in the Alps but if you want you can find some fun bars with music until late.
