The attractive purpose-built ski resort of Valfréjus sits at 1,550m in the Maurienne Valley close to the Italian border. Hidden amongst Alpine forest the resort has been developed with nature in mind, and the ski areas, accommodation, and facilities all blend into their natural surroundings. Located close to the motorway Valfréjus is easy to get to, and the airports of Turin and Chambéry Aix les Bains are only around an hour and a half away by car. Not only well placed for short ski holidays and weekend breaks, Valfréjus is also a perfect location from which to explore the other ski resorts in the valley - and you can even access the Les 3 Vallées with the Orelle cable car. The landscape around Valfréjus is ideal for winter sports, the ski area has 65km of downhill slopes which are mixed in level and make Valfréjus great for all abilities, a large area of terrain has been moulded into a fantastic snow park for freestylers, and if off-piste exploration is your thing then Valfréjus makes a great base with its surrounding wild mountainsides. There are loads of other ways to enjoy the landscape with facilities for speed riding, night skiing, snowshoe walking, hiking, and many other fun winter sports. With the links to the other resorts in the valley, Aussois, Val Cenis Vanoise, and La Norma there are 300km of slopes to explore, and the cable car from nearby Orelle opens up the entire Les 3 Vallées with its 600km of pistes and almost endless snowy terrain. However not all the activities available from Valfréjus are snow-based. There's plenty to do in the partly pedestrianised resort centre, with great facilities and events organised throughout the season, like acrobatic shows, snowman making competitions, and concerts. With loads to do and a vast number of snow sports opportunities available from Valfréjus it's a great ski resort for all winter sports enthusiasts, from novices and families right up to professional athletes.
