Come and discover the ski resort Vars in the department of Hautes Alpes. It comprises 4 hamlets: Sainte Catherine, Sainte Marie, Saint Marcelin and Les Claux. Vars managed to very quickly combine the authenticity and charm of traditional villages.
Located at an altitude of between 1320 m and 3381 m, the ski area, which comprises Vars and Risoul has 185 km of slopes divided into 33.5 km of green runs, 72 km of blue runs, 63 km of red runs and 16.5 km of black runs. There is good quality snow cover because it has a snow processing plant. The goal is to optimise snow production while respecting nature. The plant supplies the 190 snow cannons. Thrill seekers can train in Vars Park, a large playground which includes 4 parks, a boardercross course and 3 snow paths. The Wood Park has the unique feature of having the entirety of its modules made from local wood and stone. Freeriders will be pleased because they can access several off-piste routes. Cross-country skiers have not been forgotten as the resort maintains a network of 30 km of slopes. There is something for all levels.
There are also lots of activities for non-skiers such as discovering nature on a snowshoe hike, the Snake Gliss, a relaxation and massage session in one of the wellness centres or even skating on the ice rink. You can go on a snowmobile as a family with a circuit specially designed for children or spend an evening in an igloo in the heart of the Peynier forest. For a drink, go to one of the bars in Vars.
