Ski hire Zell am See

The town of Zell am See sits on the shore of a huge lake and has excellent skiing opportunities on the nearby Schmittenhöhe mountain.

With 77km of trails the mountain is a destination for skiers, boarders, freestylers, and carvers every year from December until April. As well as the snow sports on Schmittenhöhe, from Zell am See you have access to the Europa Sport Region ski area, which includes the resorts of Kaprun and Kitzsteinhorn. Across this ski area there are 130km of marked pistes to explore and even some glacier skiing in Kaprun. Boarders will find Kitzsteinhorn is the place to go - it has three snowparks spanning 30,000m2 and a half-pipe that's 5.5 metres high.

Zell am See-Kaprun also caters very well for cross-country skiers with more than 200km of trails across the area, and plenty of ski instructors on hand for anyone new to the sport.Along with all the usual mountain snow sports, like snowshoeing, tobogganing, and hiking, Zell am See has the huge Lake Zell right on its doorstep and this icy wonderland is ideal for all sorts of sports. On the lake you'll find everything from ice skating, ice hockey, and curling, to ice surfing, ice sailing, and snow kiting.

After your time on the ice you can stroll back into Zell am See and enjoy the town's charming car-free centre. The village dates back to the 13th century and although it's small it has plenty of activities and services for everyone. For some time off the snow you can go swimming, enjoy the bowling alley, or cinema. And of course, the range of shops, cafés, restaurants, and bars to explore is excellent. In the evenings you can choose how lively and action-packed or quiet and relaxing you want it, there are plenty of night spots for all preferences. Not only does Zell am See have excellent snow sports and facilities, it also has a fantastic transport infrastructure. From the UK you can fly to Salzburg's airport and take the shuttle service the 80km to the town - it couldn't be easier.
